Finger-Licking Nuts and Bolts

Ingredients
LIQUID INGREDIENTS 1 cup butter* (two cubes) 1-? teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce ? teaspoon garlic salt 2 teaspoons celery salt 1 teaspoon onion salt 1-? tablespoons liquid smoke** 1 teaspoon marjoram (optional) 1 teaspoon savory (optional) DRY MIXTURE 1 to 2 quarts Cheerios 1 quart Rice Chex ? cup melted butter 1 quart Wheat Chex 1 quart other Chex cereal 1 can Spanish nuts (or if you prefer: 1 can mixed nuts) 1 half box pretzels * I often use 1-1/2 cups or three cubes butter ** usually this is found in the BBQ sauce section in a grocery store)

Directions
In a sauce pan, melt butter. Add liquid smoke. Then add seasonings. Set aside. Next, mix cereal, pretzels, and nuts in a large roasting pan. Pour the seasoned sauce over the dry mixture. Stir so the buttery sauce is well mixed throughout the Nuts and Bolts. If the mixture appears dry, melt more butter and add it to the Nuts and Bolts. Cover the pan with a lid or foil. Place Nuts and Bolts pan in a 250 degree oven for one hour to one and one-half hours. Stir the mixture often---at least once every half hour. Do not overcook (the Nuts and Bolts should not be dry). Note: Do not feel you must follow this recipe exactly. Use the cereals, nuts, pretzels, and small crackers your family likes most. I usually use every Chex cereal I can find. I often add more Cheerios than the other cereals. If I add more dry ingredients than the recipe calls for, I increase the seasoned sauce proportionately. Feel free to increase the seasonings you like most, and lessen or eliminate any seasonings you do not like.

Notes
This snack recipe is unlike any other I have tasted. With its buttery, smoky flavor, it is very addictive! "Finger-Licking Nuts and Bolts has become a holiday snack tradition at our home. It is much loved by everyone here. To keep enough on hand, I double the recipe. If you are expecting lots of family and friends to gather at your home during the holidays, you may wish to make this recipe and have dishes of "Finger-Licking Nuts and Bolts" strategically placed around your home.
