Berry-Cake Cobbler

Ingredients
Main ingredient:
Pick enough berries to generously fill a 9? x 13? pan. Use any available berries, such as raspberries, blueberries, loganberries, blackberries, boysenberries, marionberries, or a combination of any.

Other ingredients:
Three tablespoons flour
One-half cup brown sugar
1 box yellow cake mix
Three-fourths cup melted butter (one and one-half cubes)

Directions
Wash berries gently. Drain.

Mix the berries, flour, and brown sugar in a bowl. Place the berry mixture into a 9? x 13? pan. Spread the berry mixture evenly throughout the pan.

Then pour the boxed cake mix over the berries. Try to spread the cake mix as evenly as possible over the berries. Then drizzle the melted butter over this mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45-50 minutes.

Notes
When July arrives, summer is just around the corner. Not only does this mean our children are out of school., but it is the summer berry season. Often when my children were young, they would eagerly pick the berries and present pans of them to me, so I would be enticed to make a berry pie or cobbler. How could I ever say no?!! Naturally, one doesn?t want to use the same berry cobbler recipe all of the time. It is necessary to provide variation when the bushes are bursting with berries.

This recipe was given to me by my dear friend Janice Richards who has exchanged many wonderful recipes with me throughout the years. This cobbler is quick to make, and it is usually devoured immediately. It can be dressed up with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. It is best served hot, so I prefer to begin cooking this cobbler just before we sit down to dinner. Then it is ready to eat at the end of our dinner..
